Galgorm Collection invests £50m in two new properties – announces plans for luxury spa retreat and more
Luxury Northern Irish hospitality group Galgorm Collection has announced a £50 million (US$64.1 million, €60.4 million) investment in the region’s hospitality and tourism sector, following the acquisition of two new properties: Galgorm Castle Estate in Ballymena and Roe Park Resort & Spa in Limavady.
The significant investment – claimed to be one of the largest in Northern Ireland’s hospitality sector to date – includes £28 million (US$35.9 million, €33.8 million) for acquisitions and an additional £22 million (US$28.2 million, €26.6 million) dedicated to transforming both properties over the next five years.
The four-star Roe Park Resort will be updated to include a luxury adults-only spa as part of its transformation. However, plans for wellness facilities at historic golf resort Galgorm Castle Estate have not yet been announced. Golf courses at both properties will also receive significant upgrades as part of the overhaul.
Galgorm Collection’s portfolio of destinations already includes the award-winning Galgorm Resort, The Rabbit Hotel and The Old Inn – all of which are home to comprehensive spa facilities.
Colin Johnston, Galgorm Collection MD, said: “We’re delighted to welcome both Galgorm Castle Estate and Roe Park Resort to the family.
“These are two iconic properties with strong legacies, and we’re committed to building on their successes. Our £22 million (US$28.2 million, €26.6 million) investment will further enhance their offerings, creating new opportunities for guests to enjoy unparalleled experiences.”
John McGrillen, chief executive of Tourism NI, added: “These landmark acquisitions by Galgorm Collection represent a new and transformative milestone for Northern Ireland’s growing tourism industry.
"The significant investments planned for Roe Park Resort and Galgorm Castle Estate will greatly enhance Northern Ireland’s attractiveness to local, national and international visitors, helping us drive tourism’s positive impact on the local and regional economy.
“By further developing these iconic destinations, Galgorm Collection is reinforcing Northern Ireland’s reputation as a world-class tourism destination, creating a lasting positive impact on our international brand and the guest experience.”
